Sometimes healing doesn't look like walking away forever. Sometimes it looks like returning with clearer boundaries, a stronger voice, and a renewed sense of purpose. In the final chapter of From Slow Burn to Return, I share how a temporary step away from clinical dentistry gave me the space to heal, rediscover myself, and ultimately find my way back to patient care—not because I had to, but because for the first time in a long time, it felt like a choice.

After stepping away from the operatory, I spent months rebuilding my nervous system, reconnecting with myself, and discovering who I was outside of clinical dentistry. In Part 3 of From Slow Burn to Return, I share the pivot — freelancing, healing from burnout, rediscovering my voice, and realizing that maybe the profession itself was never the problem… maybe the conditions were.

Part 2 of my four-part burnout series explores the terrifying, sacred space between knowing it’s time to leave and actually taking the leap. This chapter dives into identity, fear, financial uncertainty, rebuilding support systems, and what it looked like to prepare a place to land before walking away from clinical dental hygiene. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is trust that everything is figure-out-able.
